Service is the highest priority in our office. We continually implement new procedures and guidelines to ensure that our customers are fully satisfied that their insurance needs are being taken care of by our staff.


Steven M. Selvick

Steven M. Selvick, the president and founder of Selvick Insurance Agency, LLC. grew up surrounded by a family entrenched in the maritime industry by owning a tug boat and cement barge operation. After growing up and working in this maritime environment, Steven joined the Marine Corps and after being honorably discharged, Steven went on and took various accounting and business college courses before successfully opening his own insurance agency in 1983.

Since 1983, Steven has strived for and earned a reputation with his clients for being honest and fair in handling all aspects of his client’s maritime insurance needs including claim resolutions. Steven also enjoys a highly regarded reputation in his dealings in negotiating and placing insurance policies with the insurance companies that he represents. These highly rated insurance companies are located in the major marine market areas of New York, Chicago and St. Louis. Steven is currently a member of the Propeller Club of Chicago and also a member of the Chicago Ocean Marine Association.

Steven is married to Theresa and has 2 grown children. Over the past 25 years or so, he has been involved in various charitable organizations. One is Rotary International with its many worthwhile fund raising causes. He has held the position of president of the Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary Club and since December, 2002 is the Chairman of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program for District 6220. Steven also presently holds the position of assistant Governor for the District.

His other important charity involves persons with special needs in Door County, Wisconsin.. He has served on the Board of Directors for The Sunshine House, Inc., a non-profit organization for the disabled, numerous times over the past 25 years and just recently retired from the Board of Directors after serving yet another term.

Laurie Hicks

Laurie Hicks is the Office Manager for the Agency. She has worked at the Agency in this capacity for 5 years. She started in the insurance business in 1974 in Chicago for St. Paul Fire and Marine in the marine department. Laurie then moved on to Mutual Marine Office of the Midwest, Inc. where she retired from that Company as an Assistant Vice President where her specialty was in claims handling. She worked for AON in Green Bay in the contractors department for a brief time upon moving to the Door County area.

Steve and Laurie's professional relationship started in 1983 when Steve was a licensed broker for St. Paul and then continued on when Laurie went to work for Mutual Marine, which was another Company that Steve was licensed with. After taking a break from the insurance business, Steve approached Laurie to work with him at the Agency in assisting him in all facets of insurance-related matters and in running the office.

Laurie has been married for 15 years to her husband, Rob, and is the proud grandmother of three step-grandchildren.
